Break a fast with family

Welcome to my first blog! This is a part of my English assignment that I have to do during my two weeks school holiday. Luckily the first day of Ramadan and for the next two weeks I will be at home with my lovely family.

Ramadan is the month most of us are waiting for. To all readers, I wish you a happy and blessed month of Ramadan. For the first entry of my blog is about foods!

On the second day of Ramadan my family and I "balik kampung" to my father's village at Kelantan. The journey was so tiring. Its a fasting month okay.

We arrived at destination fifteen minutes before azan maghrib. All the exhausting mode has gone. You can see why. Our appetizer for break fast on the first day and for the next day - the pink cendol.

It was fun break fast with my grandfather, grandmother, uncles aunties and my cousins were all there. You can see there were five jugs of drinks on the table.

pink cendol with some ice.

So cooling and refreshing.

After finished appetizers, we perform Maghrib prayer. Then came the best part, dinner with so many foods but the sad thing, I forgot to take picture because we were so busy eating.

Below were among foods I manage to snap.
I don't know the name of this kueh.

My cousin selling 'tuok nyior' - a kind of popular drink in Kelantan.

We were in Kelantan for two days. On the way back home, we drop by my uncle's house in Teluk Intan, Perak. The main dish for break fasting is "nasi kerabu', a Kelantanese delight. Its so unique because the rice are in blue color.

My auntie made raya cookies to sell for her colleague.

Back home, below are foods my mother cook for break fast.

One of my mother signature dish 'sambal lada hiris'. The ingredients are a lot chillies, big onions, ginger, garlics and 2 slices of tamarind peel.

There is a day when my father takes turn to cook. As usual his signature dish is chicken curry but with Kelantanese style. It taste so delicious. The only problem is he cook too slow.

Sometimes with western style, grilled salmon. My brother like it so much!

My father also made delicious bread pudding.

Another favorite dish from my father, 'ikan singgang' or clear asam. The recipe was so easy. Just mix and boil mackerel fish, gigs, chilies, galangal and tamarind peel.

Sometimes a simple dish is enough.

There is a day when my mother a little bit 'lazy', so we order pizza for break fast.
